FAQs GNO TV
What is GNO TV?
GNO TV is Greek National Opera’s new online television for opera, operetta, ballet, music and music theatre. It is a new strand of GNO’s programming aiming at spreading the artistic work of Greece’s only opera house across the world while expanding the concept of artistic outreach. Even though GNO TV premieres during the pandemic and in a time when GNO’s performances have been suspended, this new service is not just a response to COVID-19, but Greek National Opera’s digital transition to a time of different needs and new standards. GNO TV aims at attracting audiences from all over the world, since GNO’s artistic identity and quality of productions can stand on an equal footing on the global online opera scene.

The GNO TV content is renewed on a monthly basis and will be available to the public for free or for a fee.
Is the GNO TV webpage also available outside Greece?
The GNO TV webpage is available in Greece and abroad and allows you to have access to a great variety of Greek National Opera productions. The only thing you need to do is to buy your ticket online.
How much does the ticket cost?
Access to the content of GNO TV does not always require the purchase of a ticket. There are performances that the public can watch for free. In any case, ticket prices range depending on the performance the viewer wishes to watch. Every now and then packages of performances will be available to the public at a reduced price.

Why can’t I find my ticket code?
In this case, it is possible that your transaction has not been successfully completed. Please contact directly ticket provider (Ticket Services, Public Stores or GNO Box Office).
How can I watch the performance for which I have a ticket?
Visit the link www.nationalopera.gr/gnotv/en and browse the performance page of your choice. Next, click on the option REGISTER TICKET and enter the unique code that appears on you e-ticket. If you don’t have a ticket, you can purchase it by phone from the Box Office of the Greek National Opera at 30 2130885700 (9.00-21.00 daily), online through Ticket Services, or from Public stores.
How many times can I use the unique code that appears on my e-ticket?
The code that appears on your e-ticket provides you the possibility for unlimited viewing of the performance you have selected for a one-month period starting from the day you press the option PLAY for the first time. In other words, there are no specific broadcast hours, you can watch a performance as many times as you wish, and you can interrupt and continue the streaming at any time, within one month after the first viewing.
What do I need to do to watch a performance on GNO TV?
To watch a stream on GNO TV, viewers must have access to the internet and use a device (PC, laptop, smartphone, tablet, Smart TV, etc) with a browser that supports HTML5, EcmaScript 6 and has cookies enabled.
In essence, you can watch a performance on GNO TV just like you would watch a performance on YouTube, the only difference being that you first need to enter your ticket code in the platform (for the performances that require a ticket purchase).
What kind of internet connection do I need to watch the GNO TV content?
The faster your internet connection is, the better the quality of image and sound during the streaming will be. For more information, you can contact your internet provider.
How can I watch GNO TV performances on my Smart TV?
Provided that your Smart TV gives you the possibility to launch a browser, type in the address https://nationalopera.gr/gnotv/en. Then enter the unique code that appears on the upper part of your e-ticket, and the player will start streaming the performance.
In case your TV does not support that possibility, you should repeat the process on your laptop. Then you should connect the laptop to your television using an HDML, so as to watch the performance on the big screen. It is noted that the development of special apps for remote video playback (Chromecast / Smart TV) is not included at this initial stage of the GNO TV platform, though it will be available in the immediate future.
Why doesn’t the video streaming start, while I have entered the unique code that appears on my e-ticket in the platform?
If the message “The ticket code you enter is not valid” appears when you type your code in the platform, then you might have mistyped it. You can check whether you have entered extra spaces at the beginning or at the end of the code. Delete all the characters in the field and type the numbers one by one (don’t click on the code that appears to be stored in your browser).
If the code works, but, while the page is loading, the video streaming doesn’t start, then there’s probably an incompatibility issue with your browser, in which case we suggest that you open the page using another browser.
