Description

Winterreise now on GNO TV. Inspired by Franz Schubert’s Winterreise — the emblematic cycle of 24 songs set to poems by Wilhelm Müller — fifteen dancers of the Greek National Opera present original choreographies that confront the inner and outer “winter” of the human condition.

Through movement that evokes silence, memory, loss, and the gradual path toward acceptance, the dancers trace the emotional intensity and existential solitude that permeate Schubert’s work. Each choreography becomes a personal “song” of the wanderer — a distinct moment in his journey toward the unknown — where music and body intertwine to express the essence of wandering and profound inner stillness.

The funding body of the project is the Ministry of Culture, within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan "Greece 2.0" with funding from the European Union - NextGeneration EU.

The recording of the production took place at the Stavros Niarchos Hall of the Greek National Opera on June 26 and 27, 2025.
