On the invitation of the Greek National Opera and the ''Together for Children'' Association, which is celebrating 25 years of helping children in need, this much-sought-after leading light of the world’s greatest opera stages garnered the warmest of applause for her unparalleled performances of arias drawn from famous Puccini operas, accompanied by the GNO Orchestra and the tenor Marin Yonchev, and conducted by Philippe Auguin.
In the video shared here, Sonya Yoncheva performs arias from La bohème, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, and Gianni Schicchi, and talks about the importance of tackling the problems faced by children, about opera as an art form in the wake of the pandemic, and about her relationship with Greece and its people.
Proceeds from the recital will be given to the non-profit association “Together for Children”.
